Reunion of HMS Barham Association, Portsmouth, 17th May 2003 A successful Reunion dinner with 10 survivors present and a total attendance of 56 was held on 17th May 2003. Our President, the Earl of Gainsborough. was present with Lady Gainsborough and we were honoured to have Lady Rosemary Griffin with us. Our Annual General Meeting was held during the dinner and the first item was to thank Peter Yuile again for his generous donation. Many thanks are also due to all those others who have very kindly made donations when returning their attendance chits. The Chairman, Michael Stratton Brown spoke for a few minutes. The treasurer reported that we were solvent and that finds remained at a similar level to last year. It was proposed and carried en bloc that the committee should be re-elected for another year. Ray Oliver, Secretary read out the deaths that have occurred since the last reunion, many of which can be found on the April Newsletter on this website. George Eliot, Chairman retired was presented with a silver tankard by the Association in recognition of his work for the Association. Survivor Derek Cutting, who lives in Australia, was represented by his son, Antony. Bob Woodgate showed us all the amazing 1935 Review of the Fleet by King George V which he had accidentally come across. Pictures below
