Reg Plant |
My Uncle Reg survived the Barham sinking. He was my dad's older brother. I'm researching the family history and just wanted to remember him on here. |

Harry Harrison |
3066 My mother's younger brother Harry Harrison was a survivor of the sinking of HMS Barham in November 1941.He was treated in the UK, then sent to my Mom's care in Cape Town, South Africa, suffering from "melancholia". Today this would be known as PTSD.The crew list at time of sinking shows several Harrisons and one Harry Harris, but the details don't fit. Would appreciate a correction to his memory. He passed away in 1965. |

Stoker A G Hornsby |
My Grandad Andrew Hornsby was 15 either when he signed up or when he served as a stoker on HMS Barham during the battle of Jutland. I can remember him telling me he also served on an e-boat, a minesweeper and a hospital ship (or was he a patient on the hospital ship). He told me he was one of 2 survivors from one of these ships. He was discharged out of the navy after the war on medical grounds. I can also remember him signing some cards commemorating the 60th anniversary of the battle of Jutland.(RNSC 24) I have decided to research his past. Any suggestions about where to begin would be appreciated. Alan |

My Grandad was one of the 841 that died on November 25th.He gave life to many people before he was taken from us. His daughter, my mum had 6 children. We all had children and my children are having children. He did not die in vain because he gave us our lives. Thank you Grandad.X. |

Harold Driscoll & Charles Bishop |
My great Grandad and Grandad both survivied the sinking of the Barham. My Great Grandad went on to serve on many other ships and then on teh Queen Mary as Cox until he retired. He died aged 99 in Portsmouth. My Grandad unfortunately diaed reasonably young from Leukaemia in Gosport in 1973. (Charlie Bishop). He never got to retire.I was only 3 when he passed. I check this site regularly as I feel I grew up with stories of teh Brham and my Great Grandads efforts to save other Crew. I also have a photo of my Grandad in Alexandria on the beach on leave not long before the ship was sunk. |
