I feel we should all remember those who payed the supreme sacrafice. May we never forget them. If we can't remember the past. We have no future. God Bless. |

What can I do to help in keeping the memory of the ship alive? I attended the memorial service in 1979 and was privileged to assist in laying the wreath. |

I am a graduate student at the University of New Orleans and an employee at the LSU Health Sciences Center in the same city. The LSU School of Medicine will celebrate its 75th Anniversary next year, and we are writing a book to commemorate the occasion. My research has turned my attention to the 64th General Hospital, which, as you might well know, operated in the Mediterranean theater of operations during 1943 and 1944. The Hospital was apparently attached to Fifth Army, and was stationed first in Tunisia, North Africa, and, later, at Maddaloni (Caserta) and Leghorn (Livorno), Italy, as the Fifth moved up the Italian peninsula. The 64th was made up of many members from Louisiana, several of whom studied or worked at the LSU Medical School. One of the memoirs on your website mentions the 64th, and I was wondering how many of your members might remember passing through or being treated at this hospital. Any information that you could give me would be really important to the project, and would, of course, carry all the recognition that scholarly practice mandates. |

My name is Geoff Read and my father Stanley Read was a Barham survivor.I feel pretty bad about the fact I have never looked at this site myself and that I did not inform the association of my father's death on October 14, 2004. He had made the trip to England from Australia with my late mother and myself for a function in 1986 with other Barham survivors and he wanted me to make sure that I kept up to date with what was happening with the association. My mother did all the letter writing and she kept contact with Ted Sibley, but I am not sure if he is still with us or not. It is good to see a website about Barham and now I can see what is going on. If I am ever in England again I will be sure to contact various members. I wish I was there this year as I am a cricket fanatic and the Ashes series looks like it could be a really interesting one. Looks like it will be all night vigils in front of the TV for that. All the best to all folk involved with Barham. Thanks, Geoff Read |
