Maltese Names |
I cannot help noticing the number of Maltese names mostly catering who appear on your list. I met one of the survivors sone 5 years ago while on a visit to Malta. I cannot recall the name. he was in a retirement home there. |

George Kershaw |
My Dad was George Kershaw, eveyone at home called him Arthur (his 2nd name). He died when I was 5 in 1968, so I never really knew him. If anyone has anything at all, that could give me an insight to his younger years that would be good. After leaving the navy, he did various things, including being a boxer at fair grounds (a member of the public would select 1 of about 7 boxers from a line up and choose to fight them)The good old days! Eventually he got a proper job and became a carpenter. Dying of Pneumonia in 68. |

MY DAD TELLS ME ABOUT HIS FATHERS TIME SPENT SERVING ON THE BARHAM AS A STOWKER. HE DID NOT GET OUT IN TIME DUE TO THE HATCHES BEING SEALED. MY PARENTS BEING FROM SOUTHAMPTON MOVED TO THE STATES JUST BEFORE I WAS BORN AND ONLY JUST RECENTLY LEARNING OF WHAT REALLY HAPPEND TO THE MAN WHO WOULD HAVE BECOME MY GRANDFATHER HAS HAD A GREAT IMPACT ON ME. I HAVE JUST COMPLETED A MUSIC VIDEO ABOUT THE H.M.S. BARHAM FOR THE 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SINKING THAT IS AVAILABLE ON DVD. |

Arthuer (Jack) Gammon |
My father, survived the explosion and sinking of the Barham. Unfortunately he died in 1994. He told me many stories about the boat and of the friends he made whilst serving. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who remembers my father. |

A small group, here, are collecting information for a book on those commemorated on Raunds War Memorial. One of those remembered is Walter Edward Hall. Does anyone have any recollections of Walter ? |
