William Hughes |
Hello Sarah.
Thanks for the reply, not had time to respond until now. Have just checked the CWGC site and found him on the Chatham Memorial. Funnily enough my son and my nephew have both been based at Chatham at some point although both have have now left the service. Sorry, no photo of him available, no real dealings with that side of the family and his daughter my Mother has also past on some years ago. One of his daughters, my Mothers eldest sister, Marrie an American service man after WW11 and moved to America, she passed on when I was quite young. I have met both her children, when I myself was a child and her son once again when I was in my teens, he turned up on the door step in Liverpool, dodging the Vietnam War. Not very patriotic, cant say I blame him though, a senseless and brutal waste on both parts? I've seen neither hide nor hair of him since.
Anyway enough waffle!
Thanks again Sarah, if I ever visit Chatham, I will make sure I pay William a visit and let him know he's not forgotten.
Kind Regards |

Harold G Hayter |
I am the grand daughter of Harold Hayter. I have submitted a photograph, that I believe was him.Although it is on the suvivers page, this is an error and should be on the lost page.My mum was only twoyears old when he lost his life. If anyone can help me with any info on him, it would be appriceated. He was acting chief petty officer telegraphist. What a fantastic face lift and keep up the good work, regards, Lynn |

My Grandfather was killed on HMS Barham at some point, presumably when she exploded. Never have known much about him, only vague references remembered from childhood. I had noticed there was a survivor of the same name I assume this is not him, given was a couple of crew members with the same name. I noticed The Barham in the museum on Crete a couple of years ago by coincidence really had no idea of the connection. Do any members or the association have any information/records about him? Thankyou. |
