leonard seymour |
I would like to contact Don Seymour, his son and my cousin. My father, Arthur, was born in 1927 and told me his brother, Leonard, joined the Royal Navy in 1937 and served aboard HMS Havoc which saw action in Norway in 1940 before joining HMS Barham. Arthur Seymour, my father, only told me about 2 years ago when i asked about 2 photographs on my grandmothers wall I remembered as a child, the other was of another brother, Ronald, who was lost when his tanker was sunk in the Atlantic. I would be grateful if anyone can fill me in on Leonards past between 1937 and his death in 1998. |

Hello, My Grandfather James Frederick Arbon served on board from 1 July 1920 to 3 Jan 1923. He went on the become a CPO. His brother-in-law and my gt. uncle Albert Charles Lamb was on board June 1919 to July 1920 and became the youngest MAA in the RN in, I think, 1924 while on HMS Ceres. |

I'm Sam Anastasi's eldest son. My father was one of the fortunate survivors when the Barham was torpedoed and sank.Dad was picked up by the crew of the Australian destroyer HMAS Nizam. My father retired from the British Navy after 23 years and then brought all the family to Australia. My father died in Oct. 1995. Unfortunetly I was not aware of this web site while he was alive. Thank you for the fantastic work, please keep it up. I welcome any correspondence from anybody who may have known my father diectly or indirectly. |

Albert Arthur Prior |
The grandfather I never got to know was lost with HMS Barham on that fateful day in November 1941 aged 40 years. I am the eldest son of Able Seaman Albert Arthur Prior's eldest son. If anyone has any information about Albert then I would be most grateful to receive it. My e-mail address is ian.prior@tinyonline.co.uk. God bless him and all those who fought for their country. |

James Hardcastle |
My father and his cousin, James Hardcastle joined the Navy together, and Jimmy was on the Barham. He did not survive, and was twenty two when he lost his life. We have recently discovered a letter written by James to my dad congratulating him on the birth of his daughter (my sister) and saying how he was looking forward to seeing her. This was the last letter he ever wrote to him. He never did come home again and see the new baby. I can remember a ritual every Rememberance Sunday, my brother and I would go with our father to visit our aunt (James' mother). I would love to know if any survivor remembers James Hardcastle from London. If I can find a photograph of him amongst the family pictures, I will post to this site. Thanks to everyone responsible for maintaining this website. |

my uncle harry was on the barham but was lucky enough to survive although he was in a coma for 3 mths.his wife and family were told he was dead, his wife even had a memorial bench placed along eastbourne seafront as she had no body to bury.harry woke up in a hospital in the s.west and asked where his wife was.she was hastily driven from london down to the hospital for the reunion, the bench is still there!! STEVE BAKER if it is of any interest i live 5 mins from the naval memorial in chatham if you want any pics etc just ask and i'll pop along and send you some.incidentally it is in a really high spot overlooking the medway towns and is a good spot for kite flying!! |

My grandfather was a survior of the H.M.S.BARHAM.i have seen footage of the explosion and the sinking of the ship and wonder how there were any surviors at all the day. My grandfather was a stoker on board so its a miracle that he was one of the few surviors that day.I have seen the surviors list ,to my shock my grandfather name does not appear to be on there. would there be any records /information about him anywhere ? My grandfather passed away in 1990 but we thank god for letting him come back to his family that awful day.i have been to the war museum in malta. Its in the capital valletta its a must if you are there.it has a section on the H.M.S BARHAM . i have enjoy reading and looking through this wedsite, regards keeley |
