Stuart Naisbitt from Isle of Man said... | 26/11/2006 |
Hello just thought I\'d write this on behalf of my Granddad: (David Turner) this was copied from a message he had written.
In the winter of 1989 I found the name plate of the BARHAM; it washed up after a severe storm and high tides which hit the estuary of the river Wyre, Knott End Fleetwood. |

Martin Coles mentions Victory 1 in his message. My dad served also on Victory in 1919, 1922-24, 1925-26, 1928-29 and 1935-36 with no indication in his records as to whether it was a land base or no. |

My father J W Norris stoker was put ashore at the last place of call. The Baraham then sailed to a very sad ending for the ship and her crew. My father did fall over board on this ship i remember him telling me about the amount of oil me swollowed |

To Everyone... I am the grandson of Frank Henry Oliver and I am so proud of him, so much in awe of his humbleness, so delighted to have let him meet and hold my son, and I miss him so much, but I will always love him and respect him. So to my Grandad - I am so proud of you! Love Grandson... |

My Granddad was on the Barham in 1917 does anyone have any records or memories. He went on from there to Victory I. I have searched in WWI but can’t find any ship called Victory I other than “The” Victory. Would this have been the cases was it a training facility or something? Thanks. |

This really is an excellent website. My father Arthur (first name in fact Archibald) was one of the Writers who went down with the ship in 1941. I see from the various lists that the Writers who survived, were Leading Writer Eric R.Crawford, Writer Leslie Gutteridge, CPO Writer Thomas Keane and Writer Kenneth DJ White (together of course with \"Ginger\" Lynd who has so sadly just died). If any of these gentlemen, or of course anyone else, has any information about my father and/or can remember him, I would be so grateful to be contacted. Many thanks.
