His nick name was Tiger Tim, we have no photo\'s of him if there is anyone who remembers him and can give us some information about him i would be very gratefull. We would love to be able to put some answers to the questions we have asked over the years. I think he was 18 years old. I never knew him but know of him and have seen pictures of him in his uniform. I also found his Seaman\'s Handbook in a box in the loft but have no idea how it got there. My dad has been to see his name on the memorial in Portsmouth and I didn\'t know until today about the Book of Remembrance in Westminster Abbey. I was in London last week and was outside the Abbey and if I\'d known about it I would have gone to see it. I\'m planning now to take my dad to the memorial at the Abbey on the 22nd November. Just watched the video of the sinking (for the first time). I knew it sank quickly and then exploded but the ferocity of it was quite shocking. I have two sons older than 18 years and several nephews around that age and to think of one of them inside that sinking ship doesn\'t bear thinking about. RIP the brave men that served and the survivors who are no longer with us. Well done to the families for keeping their memories alive. Gail Hunt from Lancashire said... 03/11/2008  Les Mitchison My dad served on HMS Barham from Jan 1939 up until she was hit by a torpedo in the North Sea. I remember him telling me about it and about how she limped into Liverpool for repairs. At this point, I think he was sent to Portsmouth. He often talked about the Barham and its sinking and I have for the first time just seen the video footage, which has chilled me to the bone. I know very little about him or his naval service. How do I find out more? James Alger from Norfolk said... 21/10/2008  Henry Clements 145253 Henry was my Maternal Gt Gt Uncle. According to his naval record he left the Navy in the summer of 1916 due to heart disease. I have now found that he is buried at Buckland Church Dover where the inscription seems to suggest that he was serving on board the Barham when he died in May 1917.
