Theodore Davis |
A/Petty Officer Davis was a pupil at Ludlow Grammar School. I have been asked to research all the \'Old Boys\' who gave their lives during WW2.I am producing an updated roll of honour & would like to know if HMS Barnham had it\'s own badge, so that I can display it in the roll of honour, rather than a generic Naval anchor. I am not a professional author/researcher, but someone who views this research as a labour of love & my small way of honouring the 34 \'Old Boys\' of Ludlow Grammar School. I have looked over the website & internet, but can not find a ship\'s badge, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Caroline Downes |

I am a captain with Air Malta on the Airbus A320. A couple of days ago after landing at Malta\'s Luqa Airport (on Tuesday 7 October 2008) and as most of the passengers had disembarked I walked back from the cockpit and into the forward galley to continue the activities required to turn around the aircraft for our return flight to Birmingham, England. In the forward row was an older gentleman who, along with his immediate family, was waiting for the ambilift to transport him to the terminal building as he appeared to have had some difficulty with walking. It must have been something in his eyes which was interesting as I wouldn\'t normally initiate a conversation at that point but I nonchalantly asken him if he had visited Malta before. He replied that he \"had passed by a few times but had never stopped\" so this was to be his first visit. This got my curiosity up so I asked if he had been on the convoys to the island such as operation Vigorous or Harpoon. It was probably his son who then informed me that the old gentleman had been a petty officer on the H.M.S. Barham at the time it had been sunk. It was a great pleasure to meet this man but he was soon on his way for his stay in Malta. I hope he is enjoying himself there this week, I wish him a long life and many thanks for his service to King and country in WW2. It is for this reason I have visited this website today as I previously knew nothing about the great sacrifice that had been made aboard this ship by so many. |

As a Barham, I always felt a certain connection with anything sharing my surname. This website is a fantastic way for me to find out more about the tragedy of the 1941 sinking. |

I never met my uncle William as he died a while before i was born. If there is anyone out there who could give me some more information about him , i would be very happy. My mother was just a young girl when William died , and although she does remember him , she doesn,t remember a great deal.I,m sure myself and the rest of my brothers and sisters share the opinion that he was indeed a very brave man .matur |

James LF Carr |
Anyone know anything at all about my Grandfather Able Seaman James LF Carr? I know so very little about him, so even the tiniest detail would be lovely to have. He died when the ship went down, before my Mother was born, we have never seen a photo of him. Thanks. |
