Walter Hook (Wally) |
Elsie Loft, my wife, sister of Wally Hook. Wally\'s three Sisters, Claire, Joan and Elsie are still alive, but Wally Hook and his brother Ernest are deceased. Wally Hook hardly ever spoke about his war time experiences but he did attend the annual dinners on board a boat docked on the Thames. Some of his remaining relatives believe he served on the Russion runs during the depth of winter. We do not know which ship he served on. We also recall that he could not swim but was saved by a fellow sailor who grabbed his hair. We would like to explore his naval service ie ships he served on and incidents etc. Wally lived most of his life in Bermondsey.
Can anybody help us please. Thank you. |

I would just like to say how fantastic this site is and how imformative and what brave men who give us our freedom went through.I am not directly involved but went to T.S.Barham in Wembley 1974-6 before I moved away. The events and pride of Barham was installed into us by p.o. Redfern,Attwood and Woodgate, who I beleive have somE connectioNs with some of the crew of Barham, but ,unfortunately,I cannot remember the details.I wont forget those younger years and I am honoured to have been part of the memory of HMS.BARHAM |

This is a fantastic site and as my father had never met his grandfather or seen a picture of him it was nice to find the picture on here. If anyone knew William Arscott or has family ties please get in touch as the family would love to know more. |

Stringer |
Hi all - I am writing up my mother\'s memoirs - she had a bit of a crush on a officer on the Barham -our name is Brian Stringer but the web lists of crew only have a \'Frank\' and an \'H\' Stringer. He was called \'Pip\' by his friends. His parents lived in Northleigh House, Wimbourne, Dorset. Can anyone provide/suggest identification? Many thanks |
