| Furthermore to my uncle Richard Frederick Gobby i knew him as my uncle dick who was a boy marine on the Barham at the age of 16 to 17 in the battle of Jutland not much older i gather than the boy Cornwell my uncle was also born in the east end in Bethnal Green.But how about this for a strange coinsidence spooky really he was cremated at Barham crematorium near Canterbury in 1984 even the clergy at the chapel in the crematorium commented on this .He only moved there from the Chase Clapham under protest as my auntie had relations in Tankerton Kent |

Hello,
I am the nephew of Frank Cooper Have just visited the H.M.S. Barham website for the first time.
Am amazed at content my late mother always talked about Frank i believe he was a fine sportsman and represented the Navy at sport.
Am looking at photos to try to find picture! At some point my grand parents ran the Festing Hotel where my mum was born in the upstairs bedroom facing east 3rd floor! The family did move to Felpam/bognor area. Recently found picture of Barham in a Gibraltar photo shop. Would love to be involved. Peter Hall. |

Had it been possible to attend the Service this year I could not think of any other place to be, unfortunately Australia is quite a trip. I send my warmest thoughts,and best wishes to all those able to attend. I had the good fortune to visit the Abbey in 1998 and was moved beyond belief. My Uncle\'s sister is still alive, and often speaks of him and his love of the sea even as a child. Yours truly

The service at St Anns Church at the naval church in HM Naval Base Posrtsmouth was well attended by Association members . CPO Bob Woodgate paraded our Standard with great dignity and it was accepted by the Chaplin of the Fleet . .
On behalf of myself I should again like to thank you all for all help over my period as secretary and look forward to meeting you all again at Westminster on the 24th November 2012. A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A GREAT 2012 to everyone throughout the world and look forward to peace for all. Thabnk you all |

Firstly many thanks for the invite to the 70th Remembrance Service at Westminster Abbey. My Grand Father Harold was unfortunately one of the 841 casualties that went down with the Barham on that fateful day in Nov 1941.
My Father Michael was too unwell to attend and I attended on his behalf with my daughter Ellie 6yrs. The Service was so moving, it was a poignant moment for me to pass reflection on both my Grand Father and Fathers lives. To remember we owe so much to those who gave their lives during the First, Second World wars.
This was the first HMS Barham Service that I have attended, I did ask myself why I had not been before. However I’m so pleased I did go on this the 70th Anniversary.

I should like to thank EVEYONE who has helped to make my position as Secretary more fulfilling. My sincere thanks must go to all who attended the Remembrance Service at Westminster Abbey we had a record number os some 225 persons, which is most pleasing for all the work that goes in to make the day a great memory.
I have just recvd notice that entry to St Anns Church is via the Trafalgar Gate . For those with SAT NAV please put in fot PRINCESS ROYAL AVENUE and follow sign to HM Dockyard. Again many many thanks to all , Hope you all have a Wonderful Christmas and a really good 2012 |

It was a wonderful and very well attended service yesterday at the Abbey. Thanks to everyone who came along to this very special occasion. The cameraman filming for the BBC West advised that the programme will be broadcast Monday 28th Nov at 1830 hrs on BBC West on a programme called Points West
