Hugh Moffat from South Africa said... | 24/03/2013 |
I have a picture of HMS Barham in a frame with a cap band. The picture hung in my late father's house in the 1940's. I think either he or my late uncle William Moffat served their military training in the RNVR on her in the 1930's in South Africa. Can anyone confirm if the Barham was ever in service in South Africa? Alternatively my uncle William Moffat may have served on her in the 1930's when he was at the General Botha training base in South Africa, or possibly later in the UK. |

William Cripps |
For Graham Newton We are trying to trace my father's family and have found his uncle was William Cripps. We were shocked to see the Youtube clip and to see the men jumping into the water immediately before the explosion. We have found William was one of 10 children and my father knows none of them. Any other information you could supply would be welcome we would love to learn more. Jane John nee Cripps |

In memory of Harry Lewty who died on H.M.S. Barham. His two younger brothers, Alfred (my father) and David, were very proud of him. |

Arnold Pearson Wilkinson |
I have just found out my grandfather Arnold Pearson Wilkinson served on the HMS Barham from 10th May 1917 until 30th september 1920, he was born on 31st august 1900 and died in january 1961 2 years before i was born. he served in the navy from december 1916 to may 1940. my father passed away a few weeks ago and my grandfathers certificate of service has come to light, so i am busy researching my families history. I have seen footage of HMS Barham but never dreamt my grandfather served on it, despite knowing he was in the Navy for so long. |
